Dementia Prevention Course

This course was released in November 2023 and was inspired by my desire to provide education about dementia prevention that didn’t fit neatly into my one-on-one sessions. I created this course based on my training in the Bredesen Protocol (2016) and my clinical education and experience as a naturopathic doctor.

The Foundational Strategies for Alzheimer’s Prevention course contains 10 lessons that were designed to be watched in order:

  • Introduction (27 minutes) – defining dementia types, with a focus on Alzheimers PLUS neuroplasticity and its relationship to dementia
  • Risk Factors (23 minutes) – reviewing non-modifiable and modifiable dementia risk factors
  • Nutrition (154 minutes) – topics include fasting, blood sugar, phytonutrients, fiber, the microbiome, healthy fats, coffee, alcohol and tea. Three “brain health” eating guides will also be reviewed
  • Stress Management (45 minutes) – the relationship between chronic stress and dementia, and what we can about it – including completing the stress cycle, gratitude, mindset, boundaries and adaptogens
  • Sleep (65 minutes) – sleep benefits, causes of sleep disruption, sleep apnea and upper airway restriction, sleep hygiene and mindfulness and sleep aides (exercise, light exposure, temperature, supplements)
  • Exercise (26 minutes) – how exercise reduces risk factors and directly benefits the brain
  • Daily Detoxification (58 minutes) – environmental factors that contribute to dementia risk, ways to reduce exposure and support our ability to detoxify
  • Brain Stimulation (16 minutes) – how to exercise your brain
  • Interpreting Labwork (55 minutes) – understanding different types of testing including blood pressure, waist circumference, cognitive testing, annual bloodwork and advanced testing
  • Therapeutics (80 minutes) – summarizes the first 9 modules, highlights therapeutic priorities and discuss some commonly used supplements

There is an option to submit questions at the end of each module.

There is no live component, start whenever you want and go through at your own pace.

Also – please note that this course is meant for general health education and is separate from my work in clinic – taking the course does not form a patient-doctor relationship with me.
